Television And Social Media – Syfy’s Haven And Twitter

Syfy’s Haven is flat-out one of my favorite television shows.

I know we go out on a big ol’ limb when we recommend restaurants to friends and they are promptly served foul fowl on their first visit…or promote a motion picture to them where they find themselves mentally opening the exit doors the entire two hours (hopefully no more than that!).

Yet, I’m crawling out on a branch here and suggesting you give this show a look-see.  It only debuted last July so it’s not like you’re going to be exposing yourself to a lot of “catch-up” time once you get hooked on it.  And I suspect you will.

What brings me to the keyboard today is over the remainder of this season, the show recently promised to integrate Twitter into the storyline.  I always enjoy following along a Twitter trail and see what other fans, cast members and crew are saying about the shows as they unfold.  You’ve seen them on many TV shows by now…notices to follow or engage in conversation with cast and crew alike on Twitter. ‘s article outlining Haven’s integration with Twitter is here.  You will not have to follow Twitter to “get” the story…it will just add to the depth of the experience of enjoyment to do so.

This supernatural thriller has engaging, attractive headliners in Eric Balfour, Emily Rose and Lucas Bryant.  Its viewership and popularity continues to rise as word “gets out” about it.

Filmed in Nova Scotia, the backdrop for the weekly mysteries that unfold couldn’t be better framed…although cast and crew alike have noted (on Twitter, of course!) that “atmospheric” weather and terrain makes for challenging production indeed.

This integration of social media and television will likely continue to grow and come to a “show near you” in the near future if not already present.  In any case, I hope you give Haven an opportunity to entertain you…on as few or as many platforms as you like.
