BREAKING NEWS: TV Show Wants Ratings And That’s Bad

This could be the strangest thing you’ve read in recent memory…or long-term memory…or ever.

I am not making this up.  Evidence is on your news stands and grocery store magazine racks…TV Guide Magazine for the period July 11-17, 2011.

On the back page TV Guide Magazine traditionally has a “Cheers & Jeers” section devoted to noting what it feels were the highlights (“Cheers”) and lowlights (“Jeers”) from recent television shows.

One of the “Jeers” listed in the afore-mentioned issue…keep in mind this has been judged to be a BAD thing…

“Jeers” to “The Bachelorette” for bringing back Bentley Williams to break Ashley Hebert’s heart one more time.  Did ABC’s dating show need to fly the sleazeball all the way to Hong Kong so he could give her “closure?”  We think what they were really looking for was “ratings.”

Agreed.  I think that is what they were really looking for.  Ratings.

A television network wanting people to watch their television show.

  1. Tipsy Lucy says:

Speaking of ratings, do you think anyone is going to acquire and air an interview with the newly released Casey Anthony? That would surely get a JEER.

  2. TL, I have no doubt that JEER is coming…just a matter of who will pay the most money to do so. It will of course be justified as “newsworthy.”
