Blogging 101 – Who Is Your Audience?

In my time I have seen a number of bloggers wonder openly why they pursue their craft.  Some write for themselves…some for friends and family.  Some hope to move one other person…some hope to move thousands and become worldly.

I am reminded of a tale I read in an edition of “God’s Little Daily Devotional” from Honor Books years back.  The essence of the story is a band of minstrels in a distant land who traveled from town to town hoping to etch out a living, but times were hard and crowds were small.

On a snowy evening some of the minstrels felt it pointless to perform as scheduled, indicating since few attended prior to the outbreak of bad weather the night prior certainly no one would come that evening.

However, the leader of the troupe persuaded them to perform as promised, indicating those who did attend the scheduled show deserved not only their presence, but their very best.

As it turned out, after their performance the lead minstrel shared with the troupe one of the few in attendance took the time to pass along a written note of thanks…a note that said “thank you for a beautiful performance.”  It was signed “Your King.”

Seems to me whatever reason folks like to blog, you just never know who might be reading…who might be looking for your very best.

And an oldie but a goodie…also courtesy of the afore-mentioned book…every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it.  Autograph your work with excellence.
